What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice - Water and Sewer position at CITY OF SALEM TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS - CITY OF SALEM?
Performs field and office support of Salem Water and Sewer Department as a part of the Youth Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Performs semiskilled work assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines, appurtenances, and other water and sewer systems, installing, removing, changing, relocating, and repairing meters and meter boxes, and related work as apparent or assigned. Performs intermediate semiskilled work operating a water treatment plant, taking samples, performing routine tests, ensuring proper plant operation, performing plant maintenance, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Utility Lines Crew Supervisor, Senior WTP Operator, or Maintenance Manager.
