What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Construction Worker I - Streets position at CITY OF SALEM TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS - CITY OF SALEM?
Performs manual work installing, repairing and maintaining streets, drainage ways and related facilities, sidewalks and catch basins, pouring and finishing concrete, operating a variety of equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Streets Crew Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Repairs and maintains streets; removes damaged sections of pavement; spreads asphalt and patches holes in street surfaces; removes loose materials from road surface holes.
- Prepares asphalt materials for resurfacing and patching.
- Digs trenches and ditches; cleans storm drains, catch basins, and manholes.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs drainage ways, catch basins, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, traffic signs, etc.
- Sets and removes concrete forms; pours and rubs concrete.
- Hand grades streets, ditches, and driveways.
- Operates light equipment such as loaders, dump trucks, rollers, mowers and a variety of landscaping and street maintenance equipment.
- Operates tamper, concrete saw, compacter, and similar equipment.
- Cleans and maintains inside the drum and the outside of concrete truck.
- Mows grass, edges sidewalks and curbs, weed eats, trims trees and shrubs; performs related landscaping duties in the maintenance of right of ways and alleys; cuts down or trims trees that may impose safety hazards.
- Assists with snow removal and ice control.
