What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Worker position at CITY OF SALEM TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS - CITY OF SALEM?
Performs manual work collecting municipal solid waste, recyclables, bulk waste and debris, cleaning trucks and equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Sanitation Superintendent.
Essential Functions
- Moves cans or toter containers placed for collection and dumps into trucks; replaces refuse containers; operates packer equipment.
- Assists with collecting bulk waste and brush collection; picks up limbs, leaves, bulk items, and other refuse and recyclables.
- Picks up paper, debris, dead animals, and litter on public property.
- Cleans area around trucks and along roadsides upon completion of collecting debris.
- Washes and cleans trucks and equipment.
- Assists with snow and ice removal including preparing and operating snow and ice removal equipment.
- Assists with special events as assigned.
