The City of Sammamish is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to lead the charge in crafting innovative transportation solutions for our vibrant city.
The Senior Transportation Planner will develop policies and make recommendations to the Public Works Department and executive management. Work involves developing policies and making recommendations to department and city leaders regarding matters of transportation planning, serving on regional project teams for significant programs and regional projects, and leading long-range transportation plans and policy development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, urban studies, environmental planning or science, or public administration; supplemented by six (6) years of experience in transportation planning, including one (1) year in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and / or experience.
Employees must be residents of Washington State.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Certified as an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification for Transportation Planners or designation as a Professional Transportation Planner from the Transportation Professional Certification Board, Inc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in transportation, or urban, or regional planning and four (4) years of leading municipal transportation planning, internally or as a consultant. TPCB.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and extended periods of time standing and / or walking.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
