What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER CAMP COORDINATOR (RECREATION) Temporary/Seasonal position at City of San Angelo Texas?

We are currently seeking:
A summer camp coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for planning, leading, implementing, and supervising programs and events for camp children. The coordinator is responsible for all components of the camp, which include program development, various administrative tasks, and completing all necessary reports. The position is responsible for creating a safe environment in which camp children will have fun, learn, and grow in skill achievement. The role requires an individual who can be a positive role model to these children, teaching them through physical education and recreation experience the values of respect and responsibility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising all camp staff and camp children.
- Being a leader in parent communication and addressing parent concerns in a timely manner.
- Assisting with various administrative tasks necessary for camp to run effectively and efficiently.
- Organizing and leading a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, and much more.
- Facilitating activities with children ages 5 through 13 in an engaging manner with positive leadership.
- Fostering appropriate behavior among campers and handle inappropriate behavior promptly.
- Providing direct supervision to campers at all times.
- Responding to and taking care of circumstances requiring first aid.
- Acting as a role model for children ages 5 through 13, displaying appropriate behavior, and creating safe, inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
- Performing general cleaning duties. Duties include but are not limited to trash pick-up, mopping, sweeping, and bathroom disinfection.
- Following all rules, policies, and procedures outlined in City of San Angelo policies and procedures handbook.
- Keeping up with and maintaining accurate camp records such as incident and accident reports, daily attendance, checking-in and checking-out.
- Enforcing camp rules and safety regulations.
- Maintaining positive public relations with the parents and the public at all times.
- Schedule could include up to 40 hours per week. Hours will vary, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and occasional weekends.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Position is seasonal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college/university coursework preferred.
- Daycare, childcare, or teaching experience preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreational games, activities, etc.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid certification required: must be able to obtain before camp start date.
- Driver License preferred or reliable transportation is required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Outdoor environment; work in inclement weather.
- Work with children in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Will be required to work in or with water and/or a pool environment.
- Continuous sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time.
- Noise level in work environment can be moderately loud.
