What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Youth Employee Program position at City of San Antonio?
The 2025 City of San Antonio Summer Youth Employment Program allows high school students, between the ages of 16-19, the opportunity to work with various City of San Antonio departments. These temporary summer positions provide clerical, office, project, and/or light maintenance support to an assigned department, while giving participants an opportunity to learn about City functions and services. The program runs for approximately 8 weeks beginning June 16 and ending August 8.

This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Essential Job Functions:
- Clerical, Administrative, and Project Support - Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in an office or professional setting. Duties may include data entry, filing, distributing mail, providing customer service, answering telephones, taking messages, and assisting with events and special projects.
- Light Maintenance Support - Performs light maintenance duties in an outdoor or warehouse setting. Duties may include janitorial functions, repairing Solid Waste cart lids and wheels, event set-up, sweeping, general warehouse activities, and general landscaping.
- Must be 16 - 19 years of age.
- Must have attended high school during the 2024-2025 school year.
- Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must successfully complete a drug and background check.
