- Directs the pouring of ready-mix concrete and the operation of automatic curb machine, occasionally by using a two-way radio.
- Utilizes concrete finishing equipment to plaster and repair old concrete; hand finishes fresh concrete.
- Repairs old concrete structures using concrete bonding chemicals.
- Prepares concrete mixtures for use in automatic curb machine.
- Works from blue prints, sketches, or instructions.
- Prepare estimates of project time and materials.
- Assists in the building of concrete forms, frequently lifting and carrying building materials or equipment weighing 50 pounds.
- Assists in the training of crew members and helpers in the use and operation of equipment.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- Three (3) years of experience in the concrete trade or related field.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
- Experience in concrete finishing.
- Experience building and laying concrete forms.
- Experience reading construction plans, blue prints and drawings.
- Experience estimating project costs.
- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
