- Responsible for creating design specifications for various public works projects.
- Performs detailed engineering calculations.
- Prepares analysis reports of assigned engineering projects.
- Performs site assessments and environmental assessments as needed.
- Conducts public meetings and various public relations tasks which may include media briefings.
- Supervises assigned staff in the day-to-day operations and directs project staff as needed.
- Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding assigned projects.
- Provides technical assistance to other divisions and departments.
- Coordinates with other divisions, departments, or municipal agencies on projects under design.
- Meets with consultants on various projects to discuss designs and design problems.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college, university or engineering school approved by a State Board of
Registration for Professional Engineers. - One (1) year of engineering experience.
- No substitution for education allowed.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in the State of Texas.
- OR Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification from another state with the ability to obtain an EIT Certification in the State of Texas within 6 months of employment.

- Experience with public project design and construction projects.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
