Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for operating surveying instruments to obtain field data necessary to complete land surveys; preparing measurements; staking center lines; and offsets for construction projects. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercise no supervision.

7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions
- Draws and updates maps.
- Interprets and reduces survey field notes.
- Maintains files and records.
- Stakes and measures control points.
- Operates manual and power tools to obtain data, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Locates and identifies property corners.
- Operates survey instruments to obtain field data.
- Obtains measurements by locating lines and points and maintains files.
- Collects survey information and prepares field notes.
- Utilizes a level rod to establish elevations.
- Prepares and maintains inventory of equipment and materials.
- Calculates slopes, curve data, and grade changes.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- Two (2) years of land surveying experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class "C" Drivers License.
- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.
- Knowledge of survey instruments and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic math as applied to survey work.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
- Ability to operate survey instruments.
- Ability to perform survey computations.
- Ability to prepare field notes.
- Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
