About the position:
Under the direction of the Grants Division Manager, the Grants Assistant performs a broad range of tasks as a member of the Grants Division, including researching, identifying, and assisting in the application and reporting of agency grants. This position works closely with the Division Manager and Management Analyst in facilitating the coordination and completion of all grant requirements in accordance with specific program guidelines and schedules.
We are looking for someone with:
Good judgement: Consistently demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and monitor program activities effectively.
Grant & Finance Knowledge: Has thorough understanding of grant and fiscal practices.
Strong Analysis Skills: Proficiency in interpreting program data, analyzing program operations, researching best practices, and identifying areas for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Initiative: Has the ability to take ownership of task as well as retain information effectively. What you will usually do:
Be responsible for the essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which may include a variety of representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may encompass a range of tasks as outlined below.
- Assists and supports the coordination of project performance with all sub-recipients to ensure timely spending of funds and the preparation of required reports and information for the City.
- Facilitates the administration of grants and their funds, participating in a team responsible for determining how federal monies will be invested in the community.
- Engages, coordinates, and collaborates with non-profit organizations and City departments to facilitate CDBG projects and other grant-funded programs.
- Processes invoices, assists in program monitoring, and ensures compliance with general reporting requirements.

- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
Associate's degree in finance, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field
AND
Some experience in the coordination and administration of grants and grant programs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid California driver’s license is required.

Eligible List
Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list, and highly qualified candidates will be referred to the appointing authority for further consideration. Candidates advancing in the selection process will receive information/instructions via email only.
