The City of San Bruno Recreation and Aquatic Center offers an exciting part-time opportunity for a Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer. This position entails 10 to 20 hours per week, with shifts available during weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Position Summary:
The Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer plays a key role in providing essential fitness instruction and personalized training programs to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. The responsibilities include instructing group fitness classes, offering personal training sessions, designing customized fitness programs for clients, ensuring safe and effective exercises, motivating and encouraging participants, providing feedback and adjustments to exercises, and monitoring clients' progress for continuous improvement. This role will also be providing excellent customer service, addressing fitness-related inquiries, maintaining a positive and motivating environment for everyone, and ensuring the fitness facility is clean, safe, and fully operational.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Certification in personal training or group fitness instruction required (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).
- At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in group instruction and one-on-one training is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
This position requires a knowledge of general fitness principles, exercise techniques, and wellness practices, instructing and motivating individuals or groups in a fitness setting, excellent communication to provide clear instruction and positive feedback and assessing client needs and creating individualized fitness programs. The position also requires ability to operate and maintain fitness equipment safely.
Special Requirements:
- Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.
