- Account Clerk
Senior Account Clerk positions record, reconcile and verify financial records and documents; trace and locate complex code and posting errors; sort, verify, batch and file financial documents; answer inquiries from the public and other City departments regarding accounting procedures; may lead or supervise subordinate clerical personnel; and perform other duties as assigned.
NOTES:
Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increase: 5% effective 7/1/25
Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: You must meet ONE of the following options:
- Two years of full-time bookkeeping or accounting clerical experience, which MUST include recording, reconciling or verifying financial transactions.
- A certificate of completion in a formalized (classroom) Accounting or a Bookkeeping Training Program or 8 semester/12 quarter units of college-level accounting or bookkeeping course work AND one year of experience as specified in Option 1.
NOTES:
- Payroll Specialist experience processing a payroll is NOT qualifying.
- City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
- Accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable and receivable.
