Position Duties
Salary range(s) for this classification(s) are :
Structure / Landscape Designer I : $99,612.24 - $126,038.64
Structure / Landscape Designer II : $112,934.64 - $142,986.48
This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Structure / Landscape Designer I / II positions within the City Facilities Architectural Services Division (CFAS).
- One position to be with an Architectural degree. Employee in this position will perform professional architectural work. The work will include moderate difficulty in supporting programming, evaluation, review, design, and construction administration for capital improvement projects (primarily remodels and Tenant Improvements of city-owned facilities, such as community centers, libraries, fire stations, City Hall, maintenance yards facilities, and Police buildings).
- One position with a Landscape Architectural degree. Employee in this position will perform professional landscape architectural work. The work will include moderate difficulty in supporting programming, evaluation, review, design, and construction administration for capital improvement projects (primarily parks, trails, streetscapes, and emergency housing crisis assistance).

Minimum Qualifications
Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field of Landscape Architecture, Architecture or a closely related field
Experience :
Structure / Landscape Designer I : None.
Structure / Landscape Designer II : One (1) year of increasingly responsible professional experience at a level equivalent to Structure / Landscape Designer with the City of San José.
Acceptable substitution : Acceptance by the State of California for professional registration testing may be substituted for the degree requirement. Proof of acceptance must be provided at the time of application.
Licensing Requirements : Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.
