JOB SUMMARY 
Performs advanced level installation, maintenance, and repair work of plumbing systems and components. Work involves assembling, installing, or repairing pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, and/or draining systems. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Construction Facilities Maintenance Manager.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Performs technical and preventative maintenance tasks on all plumbing equipment.
  2. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance procedures needed to keep all plumbing equipment operating in a safe and efficient manner.
  3. Assembles pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
  4. Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools.
  5. Installs energy-efficient and water-conserving equipment and alternative water sources.
  6. Locates and marks the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures.
  7. Measures, cuts, threads, or bends pipe to required angles using hand or power tools or machines.
  8. Welds small pipes or special piping using specialized techniques, equipment, or materials.
  9. Assists in inspecting structures to assess material or equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, or to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
  10. Assists in making estimates related to time, materials, and/or labor costs for repair jobs or project plans.
  11. Performs camera, trace inspections of plumbing systems.
  12. Assists in conducting annual inspections and testing.
  13. May assist in training others. Completes assigned training.
  14. Completes appropriate documents, work orders, reports to include but not limited to documenting length of time spent on each job, materials used, and describing work completed.
  15. Travel to remote agency facilities to accomplish repair, renovation, or restoration tasks as assigned.
  16. May work hours beyond and other than normal work hours including holidays and weekends as needed. May work other than normal hours to accomplish special projects or respond to off-hours maintenance emergencies as needed.
  17. Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
  18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience repairing and maintaining plumbing systems at the Journeyman level.
  • Substitution Note: Technical school training in a skilled construction trade (as listed above) may substitute for the required work experience at the rate of six (6) months of full-time training equal to one (1) year of full-time work experience. If used to substitute for the required work experience, satisfactory completion of the training must be provided (certificate, transcript, etc.).
  • Current Journeyman Plumbing License issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.  
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALICATIONS
Master level Plumber.CORE COMPETENCIES 
Regulatory Knowledge - Working knowledge of plumbing systems. Journeyman level understanding of plumbing codes, building codes such as Fire Codes, American with Disabilities Act, etc. Or ability to learn how they apply to facilities.  
Maintenance knowledge- Skill in the use of hand and power tools and equipment to accomplish plumbing tasks involved in maintenance, repair, dismantling, construction, refresh, and remodeling of the building structures.
  • Ability to learn a variety of processes, procedures, methods, various standard materials, and supplies applicable to constructing, remodeling, maintaining, and repairing office buildings and other structures.
  • Ability to learn procedures for and to operate construction equipment (jack hammers, etc.) safely and effectively.
  • Ability to learn and effectively apply procedures for maintaining and making minor repairs to tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Work safely and effectively in construction environments involving heavy dust, dirt, noise, moving equipment, and other adverse factors.
  • Ability to bend various sizes of singular and multiple conduits by hand.
  • Ability to apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in accomplishing a wide variety of repair, renovation and construction projects.
Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.
Organizational and Prioritization Skills - Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism.
Safety - Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or s. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

Salary : $65,603 - $81,994
