The City of San Marcos is recruiting for a qualified Principal Civil Engineer to lead the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Engineering Division of the Development Services Department.

Hiring Incentive: San Marcos offers competitive benefits, including a $10,000 Hiring Incentive for the Principal Civil Engineer, payable for new recruits joining the City upon successful completion of a satisfactory 6-month performance evaluation.
Your Day-to-Day
You will lead the CIP and Construction Engineering teams on some of the most exciting efforts in the City. You'll oversee the execution of the City’s robust Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Direct all publicly constructed projects and work alongside the public and project stakeholders in shaping the future of this city.
In collaborating with our dynamic team, you will partner with our other Divisions (Traffic, Land Development, Public Works, and Planning) as well as numerous other Divisions and Departments. You will be the lead who delivers exciting projects including major roadway reconstruction, a new fire station, and public parks.
As a key leader in the City team, you will create beneficial public facilities that will enhance the experience of the city for thousands of people.
We'll depend on your expertise in design, planning, and development of projects. You'll be the point person ensuring everything is completed on time and on budget by your staff or consultants. You will foster a solution-driven and customer service-oriented culture within your team and throughout the organization.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field.
Experience
Six years of increasingly responsible, professional civil engineering experience, including two years of project management, administrative, and/or supervisory responsibility.
Possession of a valid California Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer is required.
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
Salary : $124,205 - $186,369
