What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer Entry Level (Trainee) position at City of San Pablo (CA)?
This is the trainee level classification of the profession Police Series. Successful completion of a Basic Police Academy course and a Departmental field training program will permit eligibility for the position of Police Officer.1) Be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who has applied for citizenship at least one year prior to application. 2) Be at least twenty-one years of age upon completion of Basic Police Academy.
3) Not have been convicted of a felony in this or any other State or Federal jurisdiction.
4) Be fingerprinted for a search of local State and Federal fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record.
5) Be of good moral character (determined by a thorough background investigation)
6) Have a High School Diploma or have passed the General Educational Development (GED) test with an overall score of not less than thirty-five in any section of the test.
7) Be able to read and write at the levels necessary to perform the job as a Police Officer.
8) Be free of any physical, mental or emotional condition which may adversely affect duties and powers as a Police Officer. The physical examination will include a drug screen.
9) Satisfactorily complete a psychiatric evaluation.
10) Possess a valid California Driver’s License.
11) Successfully complete the P.O.ST. Entry Level job-related written test.
12) Successfully complete a physical agility test.
13) Successfully complete an Oral Board Interview.
14) All successful candidates shall undergo a polygraph examination during the background investigation.
