- Use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers.
- Use of light machinery or power tools such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
- Operates City motor vehicles to get to and from city parks, buildings and grounds
- Operates heavy equipment including loader, CAT, dump truck, back hoe, boom truck, and/or man lift truck
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Mow and/or edge lawns, using battery or power mowers, or edgers.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, and/or trimming or edging around flower beds, paths, walkways, or walls.
- Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste.
- Maintains and operate irrigation systems, including programming clocks, replacing sprinkler heads, repairing line breaks, replacing valves, general troubleshooting, and winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring.
- Care for natural turf fields, making sure the underlying soil has the required composition to allow proper drainage and to support the grasses used on the fields.
- May care for artificial turf fields, periodically removing the turf and replacing cushioning pads or vacuuming and disinfecting the turf after use to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
- Inspects public facilities, parks, playgrounds, and playground equipment for hazards, makes necessary repairs, and ensures safety of facilities.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and adhering to a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Maintains building, docks and facilities by performing routine custodial duties, making minor repairs requiring carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical, painting, masonry and related work skills.
- Maintains interior and exterior of buildings and facilities.
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, or other grounds features.
- Perform snow removal from walkways, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas.
- Coordinate with public and private user groups, and complete necessary site preparation.
- Prepare facilities for special events and rentals.
- Assist in cleanup of parks, public spaces, and structures after weather-related events.
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
- Respond to supervisor’s, co-workers’ and citizens questions and comments in a courteous, thorough and timely manner.
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance City policies, procedures and safety practices.

Physical Demands:

Working Conditions:
