What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Inventory Surveyor position at CITY OF SANDUSKY?
The City of Sandusky, in partnership with Western Reserve Land Conservancy will conduct a parcel-by-parcel inventory of all properties within the city of Sandusky to assess the occupancy status and condition of each structure located. The surveyor will also note existing conditions of the area by answering a series of predetermined robust questions. Results of the survey will be utilized to develop strategies for neighborhood revitalization.
The job is estimated to take five (5) weeks, working eight (8) hours shifts. Property Inventory Surveyors will be afforded appropriate training.

Essential Responsibilities |
· View each property from the sidewalk or street, determine whether a structure exists on the property and whether the structure is occupied or unoccupied.
· Rate the condition of the structure/parcel based on specific characteristics, will utilize a mobile device to record property data and photograph each parcel. Data and pictures will be uploaded to a remote server.
· Must be familiar with the use of mobile devices such as iPads, tablets and/or smart phones.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions is critical.
· Must be able to navigate through their assigned area, covering several miles per day, and be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Must be able to work well with a team, communicate needs from the project lead and work independently in small groups.
· Must be able to locate a specific property utilizing street address and parcel number.
· Must have the skills to consistently assess the condition of the structure/parcel based on printed guidelines, record information on a mobile device, photograph each structure and upload data to a central server.
· Preference will be given to those applicants who reside in the area of the survey or have ties to the community.
