Position: Financial & Accounting Coordinator (Onsite role)

Position Summary
While a job description may not fully encompass every detail of a position, the purpose of the following is to provide an outline of goals, responsibilities, ability and knowledge required to successfully perform this job. The Financial and Accounting Coordinator will work closely with the CFO and is responsible for supporting the finance department on all the finance and accounting activities. This includes, but is not limited to, accounting review, compliance, taxes, month end close, internal and external reporting, financial and accounting audit, internal audit, outside agency audit tasks, various reconciliations, payroll and special projects. This position also is responsible for helping to create or change, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures as required to maintain the financial health of the Organization. This should be accomplished by having a thorough understand of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position will also support general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform analytical review of all various GL accounts and investigate variances vs history and vs budget
Perform account analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (including bank accounts) & subsidiary ledgers at the end of each month.
Assist the finance function with duties related to the month-end close, year-end close and outside agency audit tasks.
Assist the CFO with the coordination of all audit activity. Includes preparation of work papers and reconciliations as requested by external auditors.
Assist in the development, write up, modification and implementation of accounting procedures, systems and internal controls.
Backup to other Finance Department positions as needed.
Support external reporting to banks and other institutions
Perform other duties as requested by the CFO.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Working knowledge of various Accounting software and systems, such as Munis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Prior Municipal/local government experience is a plus.
- Prior experience preparing information for audits, plus.
- Strong organization skills, flexibility, and the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to prioritize and juggle concurrent demands.
- Work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline required.
- At least 5 years of experience including managing in the field of accounting/finance.
