LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/SUPERVISOR
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

The City of Sanford is looking for an enthusiastic Light Equipment Operator/Supervisor to join our dynamic Public Works Department. Ensuring top performance and adherence to safety standards, you will efficiently manage a range of light to heavy equipment, ensuring top performance and adherence to safety standards. This position provides introductory supervision to team members, coordinating daily tasks and fostering a collaborative work environment. Safety is always first. You will oversee the safe operation of all assigned equipment, implementing best practices and ensuring compliance with municipal and state regulations. Work closely with a dedicated team of professionals to support municipal projects that make a real difference in our community. You will also assist in the scheduling and monitoring of routine maintenance and inspections to extend the life of our equipment and ensure optimal performance.
The successful applicant is required to be available nights, holidays, and weekends as determined by the needs of the City during inclement weather, emergencies or at the discretion of the Director of Public Works and/or their designee.
Applicants must have and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license. Applicants must also possess a non-fault accident free driving record for the 18 months previous and no moving citations in the past 12 months. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment and the ability to work from heights is required as well.
All applicants for positions requiring a CDL are required to pass a drug test as a prerequisite of employment, prior to final hiring and must successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the City.
