Part Time General Assistance Case Worker

The City of Sanford is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and detail-oriented part time General Assistance Caseworker to help ensure that residents receive the support and services they need. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in our community by determining eligibility for general assistance programs, scheduling and conducting interviews, processing vouchers, and coordinating with local agencies to connect residents with additional services.
This highly responsible administrative position will conduct in person interviews, exercising tact and discernment to provide compassionate, clear, and respectful support. You must have the ability to handle sensitive situations with care, discretion, respect, and be capable of addressing complex situations while adhering to established policies and guideline. Attention to detail is vital to complete the necessary forms, maintain up-to-date case files, and verify the accuracy of documents and information received. Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with other agencies to coordinate comprehensive support services for clients is a must. The work performed by this position is highly confidential in nature.
High School Graduate or GED Certificate required, supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and business subjects. Experience in a Social Service Agency and keeping and recording of financial transactions highly desirable along with the ability to speak either French or Spanish. Customer service required. Previous municipal office experience is also desirable. Any equivalent combination of experience and training considered in lieu of the above.
