What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader (Jr. Giants) position at City of Sanger?
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Experience as a high school player or college player and/or youth sports officiating is desired.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to perform physical requirements including but not limited to running, jogging, walking, stooping and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Able to work weekends and evening hours or on an “on-call” basis & in various weather conditions
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Promotes, develops, and maintains positive public relations between the department and the community with an emphasis on customer service.
- Keep score, officiate the players, and manage the coaches and spectators at assigned youth sporting events.
- Ensure that all needed game equipment and supplies are at the field before the start of each game.
- Ensure the field is free of hazards or debris and that the assigned field is ready for play.
- Complete game reports and incident/accident reports.
- Assist with the facility set up prior to the game (tables, chairs, chalk /stripe) and break down afterwards.
- May be required to coach a team.
- Perform related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- The philosophy, principles, and theory of recreation.
- Ability to understand, explain, interpret, and/or enforce the rules and regulations of the sport to which they are officiating.
- Ability to write legibly and speak clearly.
- Ability to solve problems encountered by coaches and participants.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Recreation hazards, effective safety regulations, precautions, and First Aid.
