Job Title: Traffic Enforcement Officer
About the Job
The City of Sanibel, FL is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a part-time, as-needed position, this role will perform various law enforcement activities, including traffic control, parking enforcement, and community engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol neighborhoods to monitor adherence to City watering restrictions, issuing notices of warning to residents who violate these restrictions.
- Direct traffic at designated times and locations, accidents, and special events, setting up and removing traffic barriers as needed.
- Escorts school buses to and from school, provides escorts for other vehicles, and directs oversized vehicles as necessary.
- Enforces roadway and right-of-way restrictions, collects parking meter revenue, and represents the City in County Court actions relating to parking citations.
- Works on special assignments and projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency, with one year of experience that reflects the ability to accept responsibility.
- Valid Florida Driver's License required.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, City ordinances, safety procedures, and geographic locations within the City.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records, work effectively with colleagues and the public, and follow oral and written instructions.
