Description

Administers daily operations and activities of development center programs operating youth services sites within the Youth Services Section of the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency, including planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating youth activities to promote developmentally appropriate student learning.
Currently, there is one (1) vacancy in the Healthy Enrichment & Recreation Opportunities (HERO) program that is grant-funded. This vacancy is grant-funded and is contingent upon the continued availability of funding.
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
- Administers, plans, oversees, and evaluates school-age instructional activities promoting developmentally appropriate student learning according to established guidelines and in compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Formulates and develops policies, procedures, rules, regulations, programs, and activities to enhance school-age program and services.
- Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of program activities.
- Develops and implements plans for youth in areas related to special needs and student enlistment.
- Manages, coordinates, implements, and participates in parent educational training and resources, including program orientations, student progress meetings, trainings, monthly newsletters, and program participation.
- Oversees and participates in the preparation and maintenance of program assessments, activities, participation, staffing, family engagement, and related records, files, and statistical reports.
- Selects, trains, deploys, supervises, develops, and motivates assigned personnel; establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance; works with employees to correct deficiencies and recommends disciplinary procedures.
- Ensures that all youth services program grants and licensing requirements are met; conducts internal audits and quality control to ensure compliance.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and assists staff in developing curriculum and implementing technology to meet the changing needs and requirements of youth services programs.
- Analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data; controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established budgetary guidelines.
- Coordinates and schedules field trips and special events.
- Conducts safety inspections of sites; oversees the correction of safety concerns.
- Coordinates required ongoing youth services student assessments.
- Ensures record management is in accordance with legal requirements and City policy.
- Estimates needed program equipment and supplies.
- Prepares routine correspondence and other documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience : Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the management and supervision of educational programs, preferable in early childhood education.
Education : High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certification, supplemented by college level coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field.
Minimum qualifications may be met via an equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions. Experience and education must provide the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities.
