The city seeks a knowledgeable and proven water utilities executive to develop and implement long-term water supply, distribution, conservation, and wastewater planning. This hands-on director will have exceptional leadership skills and experience working with the challenges and complexities of similarly sized organizations and municipal utility operations. Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or approved field and 8 years of experience in the engineering, operation, and maintenance of water supply systems, sanitary sewer systems, recycled water, and/or solar thermal water utilities. A Master’s degree, registration as a Civil or Mechanical Engineer, and a Grade 3 Wastewater Collection System Maintenance certificate preferred. A D5 Water Distribution Operator’s certificate from the State Water Resources Control Board is highly desirable.
As a member of the City's Unclassified Service, this is an "at-will" position and the incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager. An incumbent in this classification: demonstrates strong ethical, professional, and service-oriented leadership and interpersonal skills; sets a good example; and correctly applies the tenets of the City's Code of Ethics and values.
