Job Description
Under general supervision and depending on department, operates a telephone attendant console; acts as receptionist and gives routine information to the public; performs a variety of cashiering, clerical and office duties and customer service operations; collects fees and issues receipts; assists with the preparation and collection of the utility accounts; provides information relating to City operations to the public at the counter; and does related work as required.
Examples of Duties Performed
Answers questions giving routine information; interviews visitors to determine to which department they should be referred; receives, sorts and distributes all incoming mail; handles cash transactions of the City; accounts for moneys coming in to the City; exercises some independent judgment in the ascertainment of appropriate accounting of funds; handles customer inquiries, complaints and comments; assists with issuance of City licenses; processes payments for traffic citations; verifies computations on construction permits and collects appropriate fees; researches property ownership changes and makes corrections to records to ensure timely billing and collection of accounts; accepts starts, stops and changes to billing system in person, by telephone and processed mail; processes mail payments; counts and balances cash drawer; disburses petty cash on properly presented claims; posts accounting data to the computer; ; types purchase orders from requisitions; and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of increasingly responsible experience as an account clerk or cashier. Experience involving the operation of a switchboard desirable. Ability to understand and speak Spanish desirable.

Deferred Compensation Program : Deferred Contribution Plan (457 plan) is available, the City shall provide a matching contribution to an employee's deferred compensation plan of up to one percent (1%) of the employee's base salary.
Tuition Reimbursement : Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement up to $3000 per fiscal year for job related or professional development courses.
Life Insurance : The City provides group term life insurance coverage up to $100,000.00 for each employee.
