About the Job:
The City of Santee, CA is seeking a skilled Landscape Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Public Services Department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to landscape maintenance and repair of irrigation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance duties such as mowing and edging grass, operating a weed-eater, blowing leaves on sidewalks and parking lots, removing and trimming shrubbery, raking leaves and debris, and removing graffiti/vandalism;
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems, including adjusting and maintaining timers and controllers, repairing sprinkler heads, and locating and repairing water breaks;
- Operate a variety of landscaping equipment, including sprayers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and weed eaters;
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner and provide information within the area of assignment;
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field (or equivalent experience);
- One year of recent, entry-level experience performing simple irrigation and landscape work;
- Knowledge of manual and automatic irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and operate heavy machinery safely;
- Certification in Reclaimed Water Site Supervisor or willingness to obtain within six months of hire;
- Possession of a Class C California driver's license and a safe driving record;
