Seasonal Core Hours:
School Year: Fall, Winter, and Spring (mid August - mid June):
Monday through Friday, 2:00 - 6:00pm
Summer (mid June - mid August):
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm
Hours are subject to change based upon Departmental needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be scheduled during any season.

- Assist with the planning, directing, monitoring, and supervision of recreation programs/activities for youth, teen, adult and older adult populations including: teen services, classes, day camps, special events, sports, skate/bmx park, older adult programs and facility operations;
- Assist in the preparation, set-up/tear down, distribution, collection and storage of materials and equipment used in recreation programs;
- Responsible for the organization and inventory of recreation supplies and equipment;
- Assist on field trips and outings; and maintenance of records;
- Provide information to the public about City-wide recreation programs;
- Handle confidential information;
- Prepare reports and other related tasks as needed;
- Process registration for recreation programs;
- Collect and is accountable for fees for activities;
- Require lifting and handling of heavy equipment (limit 50 lbs);
- Perform basic custodial duties;
- Monitor recreation and permitted facilities.

Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example would be:
Education: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Experience: Some experience or participation in organized recreation, sports, community service, leadership group activity or clubs or a related field including paid or unpaid positions, or school related participation, is preferred but not required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Class C California driver's license is preferred. A safe driving record is required and must be maintained during time of employment.
Proof of a tuberculosis (TB) test taken within the last 2 years is required or a TB test will be provided during the pre-employment process.
A first aid and CPR card are also required and must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
The applicant selected will be subject to a criminal history investigation through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and a thorough background check if age 18 . All selected applicants will be subject to a thorough background check. A waiver for reference and background information must be completed.
City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
