SALARY :LOCATION : City of Saratoga Springs NY – Civil Service Office
- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form : either
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree or higher and TWO YEARS of full time paid clerical experience; OR
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered business school and TWO YEARS of full time paid clerical experience; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and FOUR YEARS of full time paid clerical experience.
- Greets public and employees, answers telephone, respond to emails, takes messages and schedules appointments;
- Assists public and employees with answers to general questions covering topics such as employment opportunities and examination procedures;
- Creates and maintains a variety of agency files, such as but not limited to : applications, examinations; medical, psychological, drug testing and personnel files; employee roster record cards and veteran credit roster cards, seniority lists;
- Under the guidance of the Civil Service Coordinator, prepares civil service examination roster, canvass letters, notices of examination results, admission letters, physical agility invitations etc.;
- Operates a personal computer, peripheral equipment and other related office equipment;
- Assists with monitoring Saturday civil service examinations;
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and orders supplies when necessary;
- Assumes additional duties when assigned by the Civil Service Coordinator.
SPECIAL NOTES : Occasional Saturdays will be required for assisting with exam monitoring.
DUTIES : The work involves responsibility for performing moderately difficult clerical duties requiring a general understanding of specific law, office rules, procedures and policies. The work is performed under direct supervision of the Civil Service Coordinator with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
