Job Description
The City of Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for a Building Inspector III. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position with the Saratoga Springs Building Department of approximately 40 hours per week. This position is under the specific supervision of the Building Official. This position includes performing inspections on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; to accomplish this a variety of working level, Para-professional and technical duties are needed to assure compliance with city, county, state, and/or federal, international building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, energy fuel gas, and fire codes and ordinances.
This opening may be filled with Inspector II, III or any combination of these.
Qualifications

Building Inspector II
Education: Graduation from high school or Equal
Experience: must have a minimum of three [3] years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience one year of which must have been performing work as a building inspector.
Certifications: Must possess at least four [4] residential certifications [building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical] and at least two commercial ICC certifications, must hold and maintain a license with the State of Utah as a limited inspector and have a valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one by start of employment.
Building Inspector III
Education: Graduated from High School or equivalent
Experience: A minimum of four [4] years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, three year of which must have been performing work as a building inspector
Certifications: Must possess at least four [4] residential certifications [building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical], and have least four commercial ICC certifications, must hold and maintain a license with the State of Utah as a combination inspector, and must possess a valid Utah driver's license

Salary Range
The full salary range is as follows, please note hiring will normally occur at the Minimum of the range and will not exceed the Midpoint of the range:
Building Inspector II -- Minimum - $ 26.93/hr. Midpoint - $32.32/hr. Maximum - $37.70/hr.
Building Inspector III-- Minimum - $ 29.63/hr. Midpoint - $35.56/hr. Maximum - $41.49/hr.
Benefits: The City offers a competitive benefits package including several health insurance options (one of which has a $0.00 employee premium payroll deduction with Wellness program participation), dental insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, an EAP (including mental health short-term counseling services) for the whole family, a free Teledoc program for the whole family, monetary incentives for wellness program participation, and a HSA (health savings account) with an Employer match. The City also offers the employee the option to elect to add on Vision, Accident, Hospital, Critical Illness, additional Life Insurance coverage and FSAs (flexible spending accounts).
The City participates in the Utah Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401(k) retirement plan.
Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short-term medical accrued annually, and 11 holidays annually. The City also offers flexible work week schedules (all schedules must be approved by the department head).
