REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) must be met and clearly stated on the application form:
- Four (4) years of experience in general building construction or maintenance activities involving application of carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades techniques AND
- Eligibility for an appropriate level New York State driver’s license at time of application; possession of license at time of appointment.
- Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm with weekly rotation of 'on call' availability required.
- This class involves performance of skilled maintenance and repair tasks. Incumbents generally devote most of their time to work of a single specialized field but are required to occasionally perform maintenance tasks in other areas as the occasion demands.
- In this respect, the class differs from such classes as Painter, Carpenter, Plumber, etc which limits incumbents to a single trade.
- Duties of this class differ from those of Maintenance Worker by reason of the more skilled nature of the work involved and increased supervisory responsibilities.
- Employees in this class perform their duties with latitude for independent planning and laying out work details in completing assigned projects.
- The incumbent may either function on a particular task independently or act as a supervisor over a number of workers performing maintenance and repair tasks of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature.
- The incumbent does related work as required.
