JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of the city recreational swim program by preventing and responding to emergencies.
SUPERVISION: Swim Program Manager, Recreation Director
HOURS: Approximately 10-15 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Punctuality. Dependability – follow through. Attention to detail and ability to accept direction. Positive image and tidy appearance. Effective communication skills. Flexibility. Ability to interact with the Public. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain constant surveillance of patrons at the facility. Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Identify potential accident hazards. Enforce all pool rules in a consistent manner. Ensure compliance with Satellite Beach Recreation Department policies and procedures. Attend mandatory in-service training and meetings for swim staff. Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
