- Performs vehicle safety and operation checks before beginning route.
- Informs supervisors of any vehicle problems.
- Completes all pre-check forms.
- Drives a recycling truck on an assigned route.
- Directs staff on vehicles.
- Collects acceptable recyclables.
- Ensures that all carts are serviced and empty.
- Records carts not on curb; records damaged carts; records bulk item piles.
- Ensures that all litter routes are serviced maintaining the cleanliness of City streets, lanes & rights-of-way.
- Collect bulk items and special trash collections.
- Reports any violations of city codes to supervisor.
- Enforces safety regulations.
- Answers questions from customers.
- Collects animal carcasses.
- Contacts supervisor regarding injuries or accidents.
- Cleans and inspects vehicles at end of day.
- Completes daily reports and daily log.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.Two (2) years of medium and / or heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid state Class B Commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving history. This is a safety sensitive and critical workforce position.
