This position is responsible for the care and removal of city trees.
- Operates a chainsaw, brush chipper, and dump truck.
- Assists with setting up and tying ropes and rigging for pruning and tree removals.
- Participates in the planting of trees.
- Assists in grinding of stumps through removal of chipped debris.
- Traffic control measures at work sites.
- Keeps work area clear of debris, cleans up limbs and branches, and rakes the work site.
- Inspects and maintains assigned equipment.
- Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed.
- Serves on the city's critical response team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
- Knowledge of tree care and removal procedures and safety techniques.
- Knowledge of tree species.
- Knowledge of the city's emergency response plan as it relates to the assigned area.
- Skill in the operation of chainsaws, pole saws, bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and other job-related equipment.
- Skill in the maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Salary : $37,025
