Our Facilities Maintenance Department has an immediate opening for a dedicated Painter to paint and maintain department buildings, piping, equipment and floors. We are looking for a professional who can take the initiative and help anticipate problems before they occur. You must be able to communicate effectively with City staff, coworkers, vendors, and anyone else whom you may encounter on the job.

- Analyzes surfaces to be painted to determine desired type of paint, varnish, shellac, or enamel; estimates surface areas and composition to determine amount of materials needed; uses paint brushes paint rollers, and/or pneumatic spray gun to apply materials.
- Uses a sand blaster or pressure washer to clean surfaces prior to painting; prepares surfaces by removing old paint and filling in cracks and holes; applies fillers, sealants, basecoats, and primers.
- Cleans and stores all painting equipment and supplies; secures flammable liquids in designated storage cabinet.
- Mixes paints, base materials, thinners, and other surface materials.
- May install sheet rock and plaster.
- Secures approval from supervisor prior to changing interior or exterior colors.
- Paints interiors and exteriors of buildings, offices, floors, and stairways; applies parking lot stripes; paints dumpsters, tanks, fences, plant equipment, and infrastructures.
- Maintains a nominal inventory of painting materials and equipment; submits a list of items needed to supervisor.
- Prepares all surfaces appropriately prior to painting.
- Estimate and procure compatible materials and tools required to projects.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency service calls, diagnoses problems and makes minor repairs.
- Documents all work performed using a work order management system.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an approved driving history.
Work Location: 5 Interchange Court Work Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
