Purpose
This position provides customer service in the permitting and coordination of construction plan reviews for private development building construction projects.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs cursory plan review for completeness, inclusive of fees and appropriate calculations and the appropriate signatures and professional seals; logs in plans that have all required information; returns plans to designers with lists of deficiencies.
- Prepares correspondence for clients, designers, and architects concerning insufficient submittal requirements to start and complete plan reviews for building permit applications.
- Evaluates and advises assigned designers; handles designer concerns and problems.
- Enters data from building permit application into computer system for building permit.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure requirements for plan review are received before plan review begins.
- Receives and logs in all revised plans received from customers/design professionals for plan review to be reviewed by plan examiners.
- Receives telephone calls; responds to inquiries concerning permit status; assists customers in person.
- Develops solutions to customer service issues.
- Maintain records for archiving the building permit applications.
- Assists customers at the front desk when front desk staff aren't available.
- Tracks and manages all assigned permits using an Excel spreadsheet.
- Communicates the city ordinance requirements for state licenses and local business tax certificates to contractors and design professionals.
- Manages and processes plan review and building permit payments and refunds.
- Coordinates, creates and manages construction plan reviews in Bluebeam Studio.
- Verifies and obtains valid state licenses and business tax certificates for all contractors.
- Issues approved building permits and approved construction plans and drawings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; with one (1) year of customer service and data entry work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
