What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Maintenance Worker - Downtown Cleanliness position at City of Savannah?
The City of Savanah is looking for an energetic, detail oriented, and goal driven individual to join our Downtown Cleanliness Division! This position is responsible for maintenance of public rights-of-way in a designated geographic area downtown.
Performs manual labor in the maintenance and clean-up of public rights-of-way; collects and removes litter; changes litter baskets.Operates, inspects, and maintains hand and power tools including pressure washer used in the maintenance and clean-up of rights-of-way; directs traffic as needed.
Operates pickup truck pulling trailer with a 500 gallon tank.
Inspects and operates assigned truck; maintains inventory of tools assigned to truck; cleans truck at end of route; completes daily work and vehicle inspection reports.
Attends safety training and other required classes and meetings; assists supervisors in directing maintenance workers and temporary employees.
Responds to emergency situations during and after normal work hours; serves as a member of the city's critical workforce for disaster response situations.
Performs other related duties as assignedHigh School diploma or GED equivalent; with one year experience in commercial pressure washing.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Work Schedule: 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: 8 hr. shifts working every other weekend & holidays
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.Knowledge of the tools and techniques used in grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of traffic control regulations and department safety techniques.
Knowledge of the city's emergency response plan as it relates to the assigned area.
