What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Maintenance Worker II - Street Maintenance position at City of Savannah?
This position provides complex maintenance and repairs of streets, sidewalks, curbs, lanes, and shoulders.

- Performs semiskilled and skilled manual labor tasks to maintain and repair streets, roadways, and infrastructure; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Flags Traffic/Sets up work zones assist Crew Chief’s and Equipment Operators as directed in cross-training staff in a variety of asphalt and concrete tasks.
- Inspects equipment and tools for the proper operating condition; repairs, maintains, and adjusts equipment; follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Savannah and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
- Sets forms, mixes, and pours concrete, spreads and lays asphalt, or spreads crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters or streets.
- Loads and unloads tools, construction material, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made.
- Operates air/jackhammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.
- Excavate and trench grade to specific evaluation; trims, shovels, cuts, and cleans up debris and removes vegetation.
- Operates a variety of construction equipment (i.e. dump truck) for removing concrete, asphalt pavement, and grading gravel structures to city standards.
- Lifting up to 80 lbs and shoveling
- Perform other related or assigned duties as required.
Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license
Work Location: 14 Interchange Drive Work Hours: Mon - Thurs, 7 am - 5 pm
