This position supervises and participates in installing, repairing, and maintaining the city’s sewer conveyance system.
Essential Job Functions
High School Diploma or GED (additional vocational training in wastewater treatment and laboratory sample analysis preferred); with three years of experience as a Water/Wastewater Operator; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess Class II Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification or obtain certification within six (6) months of employment.
Obtain NASSCO and Collection license within one(1) year of employment.
Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license within one(1) year of employment.

Essential Job Functions
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; handles employee concerns and problems; directs work; counsels and disciplines staff; completes employee performance appraisals; recruits, appoints, and trains staff.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Prioritize assigned projects.
- Manages the clean up of hazardous spills.
- Prepare weekly production reports.
- Meets with citizens, contractors, and vendors.
- Collects water samples from sewer spills and in response to citizen complaints.
- Procures supplies and materials; maintains inventory of repair parts.
- Coordinates emergency repairs to city and private sewer laterals.
- Coordinates the use of large equipment.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Logs work orders to the 311 system.
- Responds to after-hours emergencies.
- Assists in the coordination of employee training.
- Removes manhole covers and inspects for problems.
- Supervises cleaning of sewer lines to be televised.
- Sets up and prepares equipment for televising and recording.
- Analyze inspection footage to identify repair needs.
- Enter daily inspection reports from each task performed.
- Conducts pre-trip inspection of trucks: checks oil, tires, brakes, and lights. Inspect work sites to ensure safe working conditions.
- Performs televising and recording duties for department.
- Maintains and repairs all televising equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
