This position provides skilled work of more than average difficulty in the installation, maintenance and repair mechanical equipment employed in the operation of the water and wastewater treatment plants on an assigned shift. Maintains and repairs equipment used in the wastewater treatment process.

- Regularly inspects all mechanical equipment, evaluates performance and makes recommendations to the assigned supervisor as to maintenance and repair requirements.
- Participates in the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, chlorinators, and other machinery and equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot pump-related issues, including identifying mechanical failures, leaks, and inefficiencies, and determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation and control systems associated with pumps, including pressure gauges, flow meters, and control valves, to monitor and adjust pump operations as needed.
- Understanding of the principles of pump operation, including how different types of pumps work (centrifugal, diaphragm, submersible, etc.), and the components that make up a pump system.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and any other relevant information to track pump performance and history.
- Competence in repairing and overhauling pumps, including disassembly, part replacement, reassembly, and testing to ensure proper functioning.
- Proficiency in performing routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, alignment checks, and inspection of pump components to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Operates and cares for power tools in maintaining, fabricating, and repairing parts of equipment; operates large mobile equipment such as a boom truck, a forklift, a hoist or a crane, when assigned.
- Reviews equipment manuals and maintenance records to develop work plans.
- May perform welding, acetylene burning, brazing, soldering, minor carpentry, and painting.
- Completes and submits reports of work activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must possess and maintain a valid state class C driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
