This position supervises the operation of the wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment to ensure a healthy environment.
- Supervises directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors the status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Procures necessary equipment and supplies.
- Coordinates work with contractors and other utility providers.
- Ensures maintenance tasks and procedures are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Performs job-site inspections to investigate damage and conclude the repair assignment, including the mitigation of overflows.
- Procures supplies and materials; maintains an inventory of repair parts.
- Processes, reviews, approves and expedites invoices from vendors via agency purchase orders and payment vouchers.
- Coordinates emergency repairs.
- Schedules repair and maintenance of emergency by-pass pumps and air compressors.
- Coordinates the use of large equipment.
- Investigates complaints and accidents.
- Processes and files payroll for assigned personnel.
- Supervises emergency water shut-offs.
- May act as contract administrator, when assigned, to ensure work performed by contractors is within specifications.
- Meets with citizens to give recommendations, discuss plans, and resolve complaints.
- Participates in site inspections.
- Supervises the installation of all in-house projects,
- Performs various skilled tasks in building maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling.
- Repairs walls, ceilings, and roofs; installs bookshelves and computer keyboard platforms; hangs sheetrock and drywall.
- Assembles furniture and repairs doorknobs.
- Supervises the installation and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings, and traffic control for construction and maintenance work.
- Completes miscellaneous duties including changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, laying floor tiles and carpet, repairing pipe leaks, and painting.
- Plans and completes special projects to upgrade or improve work processes or infrastructure maintenance.
- Ensures that mandated employee drug testing is performed.
- Completes and submits weekly time sheets; fills out leave, compensation, return-to-duty, overtime, and other personnel-related documents.
- Plans and installs new landscaping features; installs flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Trains personnel in tools and techniques.
- Maintains professional certifications and attends training.
- Participates in establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; participates in departmental planning activities.
- Ensures the correct preparation and application of maintenance, landscaping, beautification, and cleanliness activities.
- Assists in developing program improvements; investigates citizens' compliance issues and works to resolve them.
- Completes accident and injury forms.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Log work orders to the 311 system.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; with four (4) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history
Depending upon the department assigned requires the following certification/license(s) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment:
- Georgia Water Operator Class I
- Georgia Water Operator Class II
- Georgia Wastewater Operator Class III
- Georgia Wastewater Collector
- Georgia Commercial Pesticide License
- Georgia Deputy Marshal
- NRPA Certified Playground Safety Inspector
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
