Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, this seasonal position manages the aquatics program at Angle Lake Park; oversees public activities; ensures patron safety; supervises lifeguards; and maintains equipment and grounds.
Work Hours: up to 40 hours per week; hours will vary and include weekdays and weekends including the 4th of July holiday.
Angle Lake opens 12:00 p.m., - 8:00 p.m.

Representative Duties
- Oversee aquatic activities at Angle Lake Park; ensure activities are proper and appropriate. E
- Develop and lead four (4) water safety events. Develop and lead in-service staff training. E
- Ensure all staff are current on all required licenses and certifications. E
- Recruit, select and assist in the hiring process of aquatic staff, making recommendations for personnel actions as appropriate. E
- Oversee the scheduling of lifeguards to staff the swim area during operating hours, seven days a week. E
- Collect and approve bi-monthly timesheet for aquatics staff. E
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; ensure efficient and effective utilization of program resources. E
- Working with the Recreation Supervisor, establish, update and revise Aquatics emergency procedures according to city emergency management policy, and train staff to respond to emergencies throughout the park as appropriate. E
- Recommend purchase of essential Aquatic safety equipment. E
- Provide high quality customer service to all patrons. E
- Provide information to the public concerning recreation programs, policies, regulations, and schedules; answer participant inquiries in-person and over the telephone. E
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Education And Experience
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
- Four (4) years of experience as a lifeguard of which two (2) years must be in a beach area.
- We will consider a combination of experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge and skills to perform the job in place of experience.
- General rules, regulations, practices, and terminology of aquatics activities.
- Principles and practices of supervision and training.
- Requirements of operating a recreational facility in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action.
- Responding effectively to emergency situations and apply first aid when necessary.
- Establishing rapport and maintaining cooperative working relationships with all user populations including youth, adults, and seniors.
- Communicating effectively with staff and the public about the City's aquatics program.
- Planning, organizing and scheduling work.
- Training, supervising, and evaluating personnel.
- Reading, interpreting, applying, and explaining rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintaining current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements, and restrictions.
- Performing custodial and light maintenance duties.
- Working evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or special events as required.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
