The City of Seattle is seeking candidates for a Digital Equity Administrative Specialist II. in Seattle Information Technology (IT) Department. This temporary assignment is expected to last six months.Are you passionate about breaking down digital barriers and shaping the future of equitable technology access? Become a key player on our Digital Equity team as an Administrative Specialist II, driving efforts to build a more connected community for everyone! The team is responsible for community technology planning and grants, low-cost internet program support, cable franchise administration, broadband planning and advocacy, wireless affairs, and legislative advocacy for digital equity and telecommunications policy issues. This includes owning the digital equity strategic actions under Seattle’s “Internet for All” initiative and coordinating with all levels of local government and public agencies, in partnership with community, on the design, coordination, and funding of critical services for residents. The successful candidate will support operations of the City’s Digital Equity Program in 2025.
Job Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyze Digital Equity Program grant management and investment processes and support program staff in identifying and implementing steps to invest Digital Navigator funds in 2025.
- Review and approve Technology Matching Fund and Digital Navigator invoices and support administrative processes for 2024 and 2025 grant projects.
- Assist IT Governance Advisor in providing staff support to the Seattle Community Technology Advisory Board (CTAB).
- Create tracking spreadsheet of meetings/community involvement and periodically discuss with Digital Equity Program staff for coordination and prioritization.
- Analyze administrative processes of the Digital Equity Team and recommend improved efficiency and decrease administrative burdens on the team.
- Support Seattle residents and city departments with service requests through email, phone, and IT systems.
- Track compliance of cable providers with documentation requirements, prepare documentation to ensure compliance, and correspond with cable providers.
- Conduct outreach and community engagement to support the City’s "Internet for All" goals.
- General administrative duties and analyses.
Qualifications
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications except where specifically noted.
- Requires two years of administrative experience (or a combination of education, training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background to perform the work of the class).
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in program design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience encouraging and supporting positive relationships with diverse collaborators and agency, community and political systems through contracts and partnership agreements.
- Experience in community outreach, education, and engagement.
- Commitment to community, public service, and providing extraordinary customer service to diverse communities, including vulnerable and historically underserved communities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve program results.
- Ability to learn and utilize digital workplace tools, data systems, and online communications and collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and experience leading or supporting multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Workplace Environment (Telework Expectation):This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. At this time, hybrid schedules require at least three days onsite per week. Individual schedules are determined by operational needs.
