Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking an experienced Capital Projects Coordinator, Senior for the Logistics Division in Drainage and Wastewater. The Capital Projects Coordinator, Senior, will help lead and manage projects in the Facilities and Fleet Management Section. This position will be part of a team that manages facility projects for all 32 workforce facilities in SPU, including in city and locations throughout the region. Work will focus on projects such as emergency management, seismic water and drainage material/storage, and building upgrades at the Seattle Municipal Tower and other workforce facilities.

- Manage and support various capital projects from initiation through options analysis. This includes development of problem or opportunity statements, cost estimates, seeking approval for funding, coordinating and facilitating meetings, and procurement of consultants through City of Seattle contract processes. Responsible for keeping projects on time, within budget, and consistent with the SPU policies.
- Examples of possible projects include: SMT Remodel Project, seismic water and drainage material/storage project, Operations Control Center and South Operations Center upgrades and remodel efforts at the Watershed.
- Manage emergency preparedness and emergency response work related to vendors and contractors.
- Support implementation of a new Workforce Facilities asset management system implementation including asset on-boarding, asset management and asset decommissioning.
- Develop and present clear technical documents, proposals, and presentations.
- Gather, update and/or develop standard operating procedures for Facilities and Fleet Management section.
- Manage leased spaces and secure services such as janitorial and managing upgrades at non-SPU owned facilities.
- Support operational needs by assisting in identifying aging infrastructure and major maintenance gaps that require capital funding or new contracts.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years project or construction management or related experience.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field.
Education and Experience Equivalency: Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
- Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.
Certification/License: Current Washington State driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications:
Ideal candidates demonstrate all or most of the following:
- Familiarity with workforce facilities capital projects (e.g. interior remodels, locker room/shower facility upgrades, roof replacements, etc.)
- Experience with capital project lifecycles from planning phases, engineering design, construction, and closeout.
- Familiarity with facilities asset management systems.
- Experience in cross-functional teams or matrixed organizations where coordination with various stakeholders were required.
- Knowledgeable about public works contracting and government procurement processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering design documents including plans, specification, and engineering reports.

Workplace Environment: The employee in this position will be required to come into the office five days a week, Monday - Friday. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
The full salary range for this position is $61.94-$72.26 per hour.
