Position Description
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a graduate student Development Services Intern to learn about and assist with the work of the Development Services Office. This position will be in the Development Services Office (DSO), within SPU’s Project Delivery and Engineering Branch (PDEB). The DSO assists the development community with connecting to SPU’s infrastructure while adhering to SPU standards and governing codes.
The Development Services Intern will support the Systems, Performance, and Project Support team during its exciting expansion. This role offers a unique chance to gain professional experience at one of the nation’s leading utilities. This position would be a great match for someone interested in learning about different aspects of the DSO’s work, who is curious about detailed, complex systems and processes – rather than intimidated by them! Ideal candidates will have experience with informal project management and process documentation, as well as a keen attention to detail.

Qualifications
Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a graduate-level degree related to Public Administration, Public Affairs, Business Administration, Information Management, Project Management, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Applications, Management, Humanities, or a closely related field.
Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time or full-time and maintain a 3.0 GPA for the duration of the internship.
Exception: Students do not need to be enrolled over the summer months but will need to provide at the end of Spring Quarter/Semester proof of continuing and pre-registration for the Fall session as applicable.
Additional Information
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
Duties may include, but not limited to:
- Project Support – tasks may include work processing, process documentation, systems updates, identifying workflow process improvements, and/or communicating with private development customers of the DSO
- Systems & Performance – tasks may include data analysis, creating presentations, memos, and reports; and critical data tasks such as quality review checks, data entry, and data cleanup
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of special projects such as consolidating and simplifying shared electronic files
- Self-directed research project including deliverable (report, memo, presentation, system, etc.)
- Other duties/work tasks as differing needs emerge in the DSO during this exciting expansion period.
