What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Material Controller position at City of Seattle?

Seattle City Light is seeking to hire a skilled Sr. Material Controller to perform functions as related to the procurement, classification, and management of material in order to support Power Production inventory and asset management. The position can be based out of Seattle, Skagit Hydroelectric Project or Boundary depending on candidate preference. This position will report to the Work Management Manager.
•Reviews and approves Power Production material requests.
•Creates new stock codes (following SCL guidelines).
•Manages stock replenishment for Power Production facilities.
•Analyzes purchasing requirements for non-routine, complex, and non-stocked commodities, and ensures that required materials are available when needed.
•Analyzes inventory and usage of non-routine, complex, and stocked materials to determine minimum stock required and coordinates reorders of such materials to ensure availability of materials as needed.
•Prepares requisitions based upon specifications and requirements.
•Monitors supplier performance, resolves supply problems, and documents problems in delivery and quality with respect to vendors and suppliers.
•Reviews stock material for obsolescence or refurbishment and updates warehouse records.
•For orders under a specific dollar amount or purchased through an annual contract, places orders directly with suppliers for both stocked and non-stocked material.
•Resolves order discrepancies and other problems related to materials received.
•Acts as liaison between the department, the Purchasing Department and suppliers to facilitate the requisition of materials.
•Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a minimum of three years of experience in material control and administrative warehousing, including the maintenance of stock levels or governmental purchasing (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- Experience with the WAMS application.
- Experience working at Boundary or Skagit.
- Experience with purchasing with AP Portals
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with written communication
- Experience with reviewing and processing documentation with high accuracy

The full salary range for this position is $39.18 - $45.56 per hour.
