Position Description
The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) is hiring a Temporary Administrative Specialist II focused on accessibility work. This five-month assignment will help the department meet ADA requirements for documents posted on the SDCI website.
Job Responsibilities
- Use Word (primarily), PowerPoint, and Excel to create accessible source documents and fix accessibility errors
- Use Adobe Acrobat to correct PDF documents to meet accessibility standards
- Use PAC 2024 to inspect PDF documents to identify accessibility errors
- Troubleshoot accessibility errors and solutions in Word, Acrobat, and PowerPoint
- Help department staff create accessible documents in Word and Acrobat
- Research accessibility best practices and solutions and document those findings for department staff
- Understand accessibility tag codes (very similar to HTML code) to identify and correct accessibility errors in Acrobat
- Identify existing web documents to remediate for accessibility
Qualifications
Requires two years of clerical support experience (or a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides evidence of the ability to perform work of the class).
Successful candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:
- Experience using Word and Adobe Acrobat to create accessible documents and/ or correcting documents to be accessible
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to identify and correct small errors in multi-page documents

The full salary range for this position is $34.32- $39.87 per hour.
