What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Service Technician (Lobby) position at City of Seguin?
- Attends training activities and receives classroom and field instruction in basic police methods;
- Receives and documents citizen complaints both in person and by telephone regarding nonemergency incidents including, but not limited to burglaries, thefts, forgeries, missing persons, lost/found property, and criminal mischief, secures necessary information, interprets and assesses the seriousness of the situation, and makes determination as to appropriate handling of matter;
- Work may involve non-traditional working hours including nights and weekends;
- Performs clerical duties such as typing, filing, photocopying, etc. as required;
- Writes offense, incident, and related reports;
- Uses law enforcement sensitive databases and provides analytical support and reports;
- Analyzes computer generated data and completes various computer functions;
- Greets and assists lobby patrons, provides information, and responds to questions and concerns from the general public, departmental staff, and other agencies in person and by telephone; forwards calls to appropriate personnel; takes and provides phone messages; responds to public inquiries for information regarding police reports and other matters;
- Process, collect, and tag evidence as required;
- Testify in court when necessary;
- Conducts Golf Cart Inspections;
- Completes Car Seat Inspections;
- Assist in answering main phoneline in Records Division;
- Assists other departmental employees as needed, functions as a team member and interacts appropriately with the general public;
- May perform the duties of a Police Records Clerk;
- Collects fees for copies of reports, records checks, and other matters; prepares and issues receipts; maintains appropriate ledgers and balances register;
- Observes safety rules and procedures; and
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general supervision, non-sworn position performs a variety of technical, analytical, and clerical work related to law enforcement. Assists the public with civil or property complaints, assists police personnel by handling non-hazardous situations, and performs other duties not requiring Peace Officer status.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High school education, or its equivalent, plus one year administrative/clerical experience preferably in a law enforcement setting. Prior law enforcement experience meets Acceptable Experience and Training.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities with good driving record.
