NOTICE: The City Of Sharonville has a vacancy in the classification of Tax Analyst. This is a full- time position.
ADMINISTRATION OF APPLICATION AND EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURES: All provisions of this Notice Of Employment Opportunity will be administered and monitored by The Sharonville Civil Service Commission.
WAGES AND BENEFITS: Wages and benefits are very competitive. The pay rate for newly hired employees will be based on skills, education, job knowledge, and abilities. The current pay range is $21.89 per hour to $33.99 per hour. Paid vacation time, paid sick leave, an excellent retirement system, and other generous benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Each applicant must (1) be at least 18 years of age on or before their submission of applications for employment (see next paragraph) AND (2) have attained a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) AND (3) be able to demonstrate a combination of training, education, and/or experience which demonstrates an understanding of customer service and problem solving.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of secondary education or G.E.D. with coursework in business and/or office procedures and related training and/or experience that indicates an advanced knowledge of office practices and procedures and a basic knowledge of arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and decimals.
- Knowledge of local income taxes is desired.
- Must be able to be bonded via City’s risk insurance carrier.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver’s license, must maintain insurability as set forth by the City’s motor vehicle liability insurance requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for purposes of 42 USC 12101):
- Greet visitors in person, answer telephone, receive and route messages; provide assistance to taxpayers and preparers regarding residential, withholding & net profit income tax issues; assist taxpayers with completion of all local forms and calculations of taxes; collect any related moneys due; answer inquiries and tax-related questions from the public or refer to the proper authority.
- Receive tax payments including taking payments at the front counter and post the information into the computer, prepare bank deposits; properly record and balance all collections. Verify tax deposits with the finance department.
- Maintain tax related records and documents (city residents, new businesses, records of receipts, tax returns, questionnaires, street addresses, etc.); enter data into computer; generate related reports. Register new taxpayers & work with other departments to update business and resident information.
- Print and mail bi-monthly tax bills, update resident information regarding returned mail.
- Prepare, print and mail various letters, memos, reports, etc. as well as make phone contact with taxpayers and tax preparers.
- Perform related clerical duties: open, sort and distribute mail; prepare mailings of tax forms and business packets, miscellaneous typing; filing, scanning and retrieval of stored files/records; etc.
- Have excellent organizational skills and be self- motivated to assist the Tax Administrator & other tax analysts with reports & projects as needed or assigned.
- Attend related meetings and seminars as directed by the Tax Administrator
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Abide by the Standards of Conduct as defined by City Administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary for the operation of the Finance Department.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of: Accounting, customer service, basic knowledge of arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and decimals.
- Skill in: Computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred; 10-key proficiency; and the ability to work with tax related computer software.
- Ability to: Prioritize and complete multiple projects while handling routine tasks. Maintain complex and confidential records; lift up to 25 pounds from floor to overhead; sit or stand for long periods. Ability to communicate well with the public, as well as staff members.
