What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Coach position at City of Shawnee?
For fun at work, just add water! Make a splash this summer working at the Shawnee Municipal pools! The Assistant Swim Coach position is responsible for helping instruct diving classes, coaching, supervising teams, and leading organized workouts. The Pool Manager provides supervision, however, work is performed independently with latitude for decision-making. The position requires direct interaction with customers, the general public, and other department personnel or other agencies. Current pay for the Assistant Swim Coach position begins at $17.00 per hour. Additional compensation is provided for employees who return after each season.
- Assists the Swim Coach during practice and competitions.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants involved.
- Attends appropriate training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Swim Coach, Pool Manager or Aquatics Director.
- Special Events: Plans or assists with Aquatics special events.
- Attends all practices and competitions throughout the entire season
- Other Duties. Performs other related duties as requested or assigned by the Pool Manager or Aquatics Director.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- Previous swimming and coaching experience necessary.
- Certifications Needed:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- First Aid Certification
- AED Certification
Or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities identified in this job description.
Must be able to attend all scheduled swim/dive events, practices, and meeting throughout the season.
